Standards:
2nd Grade
Students in second grade will focus on learning proper keyboarding skills. By the end of second grade, students will have learned all letter keys, proper keystroke, and be able to use shift to capitalize letters, while demonstrating proper etiquette, behavior, and body position. Students will also learn to use Microsoft Paint to create and edit images, Microsoft Word and Google Docs to produce simple paragraphs, Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides to create simple presentations, in addition to Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome internet browsers to navigate websites as they practice computer and internet safety.
3rd Grade
Students in third grade will improve their speed and accuracy in keyboarding. In addition to keyboarding, students will create, edit, and format word-processing documents, create lists and charts in Excel and create multi-slide PowerPoint presentations. Students will also discuss ethical computer use, study ownership and authorship issues, and learn to acquire and evaluate information on the Internet.
4th Grade
Students in fourth grade will continue to improve upon speed and accuracy in keyboarding, while focusing on becoming proficient in application tools such as word processors, advanced presentations, and publishing applications. They will continue to use and expand on their knowledge in researching skills and proper computer terminology.
